A TIMBER and garden product manufacturer is celebrating reaching a milestone.
Ruby Group, based in Highampton, Devon was borne out of a previous family-run timber company, LEL Timber.
Now, eight years on, Ruby has become a staple for gardeners and tradespeople in the Devon and Cornwall community, as well as nationwide.
It is still a completely family-run business, with a team of more than 30, including the original directors’ children and grandchildren working for the company, as well as their partners and wider family members.
Operations manager Kieran Langman, whose parents were the business’ original co founders, said: ‘The growth of the business over the last few years has been unprecedented for us, being optimised for online sales has meant we were able to provide a service to customers across the UK during the pandemic and provide delivery to the doorstep, so people didn’t have to leave their home.
‘Thankfully we were able to grow a lot during the pandemic as a lot of people were working on their homes and gardens and we were able to provide products and services for them.’
So far, during the last eight years, Ruby has sold more than 250,000 cladding boards, has ventured into ecommerce to maximise sales and is now expanding the warehouse and in-house manufacturing facilities to meet the increased demand.
It has also been a key part in helping community projects, providing timber products to Holsworthy Area Sports Pavilion, Scouts Club, sponsoring Holsworthy AFC Football Club and helping to run fundraising events, from charity runs to black-tie events.
It also introduced a Blue Light discount to support key workers throughout the pandemic.
The next step is to introduce an interiors arm to the business, providing products for inside the home as well as out.
Marketing assistant Jess Parsons said: ‘The growth has been incredible and we’re optimistic that the next eight years will bring a similar amount of growth. We’re really looking forward to moving into interiors as it will bring a whole new exciting area to the business.’
To celebrate its eight-year anniversary, the firm is giving away a voucher worth £500 to allow someone to give their garden a makeover
